Stainless Steel Grade AISI 307Si | EN 1.4370 | DIN X15CrNiMn18-8

AISI 307Si | EN 1.4370 | DIN X15CrNiMn18-8 is a superalloyed, fully austenitic stainless steel alloy. It is suitable for welding difficult to weld (martensitic, duplex) austenitic, low alloy or manganese stainless steels. The high manganese content makes the weld metal very resistant to hot cracking with good ductility.

Features

  • A significant amount of manganese (Mn) reduces brittleness and increases strength.
  • Excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion.
  • Good level of ductility.
  • As a result, finished welds can be bent, stretched or pulled without breaking.
  • Resistance to high temperatures up to 300 °C.
  • No porosity of weld deposits.
  • The addition of silicon ensures good fluidity of the weld pool and a smooth bead appearance.
  • Easy removal of weld scale.

Corrosion resistance corresponds to type 304. It has high mechanical properties and good weldability, hardenability and cold resistance down to -196 °C.

A significant amount of manganese (Mn) reduces brittleness and increases strength, which also increases durability. Due to its mechanical strength, AISI 307 Si has excellent resistance to cracking.

Ideal for welding dissimilar metals such as steel and stainless steel. In addition, the increased silicon content ensures the formation of a good weld pool together with a smooth bead appearance. An excellent choice for applying stress-relieving buffer layers, particularly for crack-sensitive base metals, e.g. surfacing. Shows a good level of ductility, which increases the ability of the finished weld to be pulled or stretched without breaking or compromising its integrity.

Used for applications where atmospheric corrosion and high temperature resistance (up to 300°C) must be considered. Other applications for joining and surfacing include hardening steels, armour plates, heat-resistant steels. The weld deposits are non-porous, helping to provide good mechanical properties combined with good resistance to scale formation, making them easy to remove from the finished weld.

Application

Typical industries and applications for welding include:

  • Hardening steel products.
  • Armor plate.
  • Welding of homogeneous and dissimilar steels.
  • Creation of stress-relaxing buffer layers for non-precious metals sensitive to cracking.
  • Aerospace programs.
  • Automated industry.
  • Welding of high-temperature furnace components.
  • Corrosion-resistant products.
