This elbow (fitting), made of austenitic stainless steel AISI 304, is designed to change the direction of flow in pipelines. It has an outer diameter of 32 mm and a wall thickness of 1.5 mm. The surface of the branch is polished to a mirror or near-mirror finish with a finish of 400 GRIT. Due to the higher chromium and nickel content, AISI 304 shows significantly better corrosion resistance in a wide range of aggressive environments, including acids, alkalis, salt solutions and chlorides (although for strong chloride environments, more alloyed steels, such as AISI 316, are recommended). It is better resistant to moisture, steam and many chemicals.
