Stainless Steel Round Pipe AISI 304
Stainless steel round pipe AISI 304
Stainless steel round pipe AISI 304 - this is a pipe of round cross-section made of corrosion-resistant food grade stainless steel AISI 304 (stainless steel food pipe).
Characteristics
The pipe is welded, seam. It has a TIG weld. The seam is much stronger than that of stainless round pipe AISI 201. Weld coefficient = 1. This means that the seam strength is the same as the strength of the main pipe material. The pipe is easy to process: it is polished and ground perfectly. The pipe is very strong and at the same time plastic, it is easy to cut and bend. It is non-magnetic. And the austenite phase in it can be preserved from low temperatures up to 1050 °C. During cold processing or welding, a martensite or ferrite phase can be added and the pipe can be slightly magnetized. Pipe 304 exhibits high corrosion resistance in moderately aggressive and most aggressive environments. It has good processability. The surface treatment has a very large effect on the corrosion resistance of the tube: a smooth, mirror-polished surface will usually have better corrosion resistance than a matte, rough, polished, satin or untreated surface.
Welding
Stainless steel pipe 304 is easily welded by known traditional welding methods. Please note: the material is not resistant to intercrystalline corrosion after welding.
Application
The scope of application of stainless steel pipe grade AISI 304 is very wide. It is used in almost all areas: chemical, food and pulp and paper industries, in electric power engineering, environmental protection, transport and the automobile industry. In household use. It is very popular in construction, architecture and design.
So: stainless steel pipe 304 is durable, flexible and relatively rigid. It is easy to weld and process well. Non-magnetic. Food grade. It has high resistance to corrosion in moderately aggressive and some aggressive environments. According to the listed indicators, it significantly exceeds pipes made of AISI 201 and several times AISI 430. The only drawback, in our opinion, is its relatively high price, cost. After all, its chemical composition contains a significant amount of expensive nickel. However, if you take into account the fact that structures (for example, railings, handrails, fences, pipelines), with proper operation and maintenance, will serve you for more than one decade - then the price factor is simply not significant.
