⓵ depending on the grade of stainless steel:
➖ FOR FOOD INDUSTRY - recommended for use in the food industry in contact with food products and solutions. Its special feature is that when in contact with food substances and during cooking at a certain temperature, harmful substances hazardous to human health do not form, accumulate, or emit on the surface of such a pipe. This type includes pipes made of 300 series stainless steel, for example, STAINLESS STEEL PIPE AISI 304.
➖ TECHNICAL - recommended for use in various areas of human activity except for the food industry, since when in contact with food substances, harmful substances may be released. This type includes pipes made of 400 series steel: AISI 420, 430, 439, 441, 444 etc.
➖ 200 series pipes, in particular the widely known STAINLESS STEEL PIPE AISI 201, it is something between technical and food grade in terms of anti-corrosion, mechanical, physical properties and price.
➖ DUPLEX - is made of duplex stainless steel, which contains almost equal proportions of austenite and ferrite in its chemical composition. It is due to the characteristics of the two-phase structure that duplex stainless steel pipe has the advantages of both ferritic and austenitic stainless steel due to proper control of the chemical composition and heat treatment process.
⓶ depending on the manufacturing method:
➖ WELDED (ELECTRIC WELDING) или WELDED PIPE - is made by welding on a special machine from a sheet blank. A welded pipe is characterized by a seam inside the pipe along its entire length. Depending on the welding method, welded pipes are divided by the type of weld. The most common of them are: TIG, MIG, HF.
➖ SOLID-DRAWN PIPE или SEAMLESS PIPE - a seamless product made of stainless steel that does not have a longitudinal, spiral seam or other types of joints. Seamless drawn stainless steel pipe - produced by drawing a pipe blank from a mass of hot metal and then calibrating or drawing cold blanks.
⓷ depending on surface treatment:
➖ UNPROCESSED - the surface is usually inherent in seamless drawn pipes.
➖ MATTE - a surface with microscopic irregularities whose dimensions are close to the wavelength of visible light. Its peculiarity is that light is reflected from it diffusely, that is, it is scattered in all directions.
➖ POLISHED или SATIN - surface obtained in the process of mechanical or manual operation of processing the surface of the pipe using an abrasive material. It is divided into several subtypes depending on the grain size: *180 grit, 240 grit, 320 grit.
➖ POLISHED (ELECTRO POLISHED) or MIRROR (not to be confused with CHROME PLATED PIPE or NICKEL PLATED) - there are also several subtypes: 400 grit, 600 grit, 800 grit (super mirror).
⓸ depending on the wall thickness:
➖ THIN WALLED - Usually a stainless steel pipe with a wall thickness of 0.4 - 2 mm inclusive is considered thin-walled.
➖ THICK WALLED - wall thickness 3 mm or more.

➖ CORROSION RESISTANT - has an increased ability to resist various types of corrosion.
➖ PHARMACEUTICAL, ASEPTIC, MEDICAL - usually made from "medical" grade stainless steel such as AISI 316L. Used in the medical field, pharmaceutical industry. Can be supplied with a polished surface: INTERNALLY POLISHED (INSULIN), EXTERNALLY POLISHED or simultaneously from both sides.
➖ ACID RESISTANT - this is a stainless steel pipe that is suitable for use in aggressive environments such as phosphoric, nitric, citric, lactic, formic, acetic acids, in the presence of alkalis - hydroxides and salts - nitrates, chlorides, fluorides, atorides. The pipe shows excellent resistance to the marine environment and salt. Usually such pipes are made of stainless steel AISI 316; 316L; 316Ti; and their analogues EN 1.4401; 1.4435; 1.4571; or DIN X5CrNiMo17-12-2; X2CrNiMo18-14-3; X6CrNiMo17-12-2; corresponding to DSTU (GOST) 10Х17Н13М2; 03Х17Н14М3; 10Х17Н13М2Т;
➖ HEAT-RESISTANT - is a stainless steel pipe suitable for use in high temperature conditions and under highly loaded conditions for a long time without noticeable deformation and destruction.
➖ FURNITURE PIPE - a pipe, regardless of the steel grade, surface, with any cross-section/diameter and wall thickness, which can be used in furniture production, received the term FURNITURE PIPE or STAINLESS STEEL FURNITURE PIPE.
➖ MILK PIPE - dairy industry pipe made of food grade stainless steel. Can be used for the production of wine, beer, beverages, etc. Special requirements are imposed on this type of pipe. They must comply with the standard * EN 10357 (DIN 11850) or similar (high anti-corrosion properties; welds must be cleaned, pickled and passivated; high resistance to aggressive environments; no toxic emissions, environmentally friendly; good wear resistance;).

➖ MAGNETIC - the pipe is made of ferritic grades of stainless steel, which have good magnetic properties.
➖ NON-MAGNETIC - stainless steel pipe is made from austenitic steel grades, which do not have the ability to exhibit magnetic properties.

*Grit - is the number of holes per inch² (square) in the mesh through which the abrasive grain is sifted before it is formed into a product. Accordingly, the grit value is inversely proportional to the grain size: the more holes, the greater the grit and the smaller the siftable abrasive.
*EN 10357 (DIN 11850) - the standard applies to dimensions, materials, types of internal and external surface finishes and marking of welded stainless steel pipes for piping systems in the food and chemical industries.

The cost of one linear meter is influenced by: steel grade, weight, surface treatment, manufacturing method, weld type. The better and higher quality the stainless steel grade, the more nickel, chromium or other stabilizing elements it contains, the more expensive the pipe is. If you compare two pipes with the same outside diameter but different wall thicknesses, the weight of the pipe with the thicker wall will certainly be greater and, as a result, the cost of the heavier pipe will be higher. Surface treatment also affects the cost: a pipe with a mirror and polished surface costs more than a matte or a pipe with a completely untreated surface. The better and stronger the weld, the higher the cost.
