Inconel 601 | AISI 601 | Alloy 601 | EN 2.4851 | DIN NiCr23Fe | Nicrofer 6023 | Sanicro 61 | UNS N06601 is a heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium metal intended for wide engineering use. Its main performance property is long-term and strong resistance to oxidation at high temperatures.

This alloy is easy to work with, as it is easy to process, resistant to loads and mechanical damage. The hard alloy, deformed by thermal means, acquires strength and a stable structure.

Aluminum added to the alloy composition provides it with oxidation resistance at very high temperatures up to and including 1250 °C, including cyclic heating/cooling changes. The high content of chromium in the alloy composition provides corrosion resistance in most chemically aggressive environments. Nitrogen and zirconium control and prevent grain growth in the alloy even when products made from this alloy are used at high temperatures - up to a maximum of 1195 °C.

This is the complex chemical composition of Inconel 601 ensures the creation of a durable oxide layer on the surface of metal products that is resistant to abrasion and chipping.

This alloy is used to manufacture various special devices used in thermal processing of materials (carburization and carbon nitriding). It is suitable for the production of elements of thermal reactors, gasoline engines, combustion chambers and pipe support units in the energy sector. Inconel 601 pipe or Inconel 601 pipes serve well as elements of ceramic furnaces, and tubes and rolled products serve as heating elements of kilns.

Alloy density (specific gravity) - 8.11 g/cm3.

Anti-corrosion properties

At temperatures above 550 °C, the alloy shows excellent high strength at high temperatures against the effects of hot gases and combustion products. It is resistant to salt melts and has good mechanical properties under short-term and long-term loads. Inconel 601 | Inconel 601 | EN 2.4851 is characterized as a heat-resistant alloy.

Even under severe conditions such as cyclic loading by heating and cooling, metal made from this remarkable alloy retains a strong oxide layer that is highly resistant to cracking.

DIN EN 10095 specifies a maximum operating temperature in air of 1200 °C, with the weight loss due to scale coating of the metal being on average no higher than 1 g/m2 per 1 hour.

Demonstrates good resistance to both carburization and nitriding and nitrocarburizing conditions, if a sufficiently high oxygen partial pressure is present.

Welding

For good welding, the alloy must be in a diffusion annealed state and free of scale, grease and markings. It can be welded by all traditional welding methods: non-consumable, consumable electrode welding in active gas, plasma, electron beam and electric welding.
