AISI 316LSi | EN 1.4430 | DIN X2CrNiMo19-12 is an austenitic stainless steel that belongs to the group of acid-resistant stainless steels of the 300 series. Provides good general resistance to corrosion, especially corrosion in acidic and chlorinated environments. The alloy has a very low carbon content in its composition.
This makes it particularly recommended when there is a risk of intercrystalline corrosion. The higher silicon content improves welding properties such as wetting and results in a shiny weld.
This grade of metal is widely used in the chemical and food industries, as well as in shipbuilding and various types of architectural structures. It is also used as a solid-section wire for welding and surfacing corrosion-resistant cold-strength and austenitic steels operating at temperatures from -196 °C to +400 °C.
AISI 316LSi | EN 1.4430 is used for welding AISI 316 and AISI 316L stainless steels in a wide range of applications, including pipe and plate fabrication. The higher silicon level ensures a smooth weld shape and appearance with excellent edge transition, especially in fillet welds. The weld metal has high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion by non-oxidizing acids. It is used for applications with a working temperature of <400 °C. Higher productivity can be achieved with the MIG (metal inert gas) welding process.
This stainless steel is known for its good resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosion. It has high creep strength, tensile strength and tensile strength at high temperatures. Due to its excellent strength at cryogenic temperatures, AISI 316LSi stainless steel is simply ideal for applications such as oil and gas, petrochemical, power, marine, chemical and many more. The mechanical properties of AISI 316LSi | EN 1.4430 | DIN X2CrNiMo19-12 stainless steel compare favorably with similar grades.
