Stainless Steel Grade AISI 329 | EN 1.4460 | S31200 | X3CrNiMoN27-5-2

Stainless steel AISI 329 | EN 1.4460 | S31200 | X3CrNiMoN27-5-2 Duplex is an acid-resistant austenitic-ferritic steel that exhibits very good corrosion resistance, especially in chlorine-containing environments. It is resistant to chloride attack, pitting corrosion, crack corrosion, stress corrosion and corrosion fatigue.

Demonstrates corrosion resistance much better than fully austenitic stainless steels such as EN 1.4404.

Heat treatment

Annealing of the solution 1020 ºС - 1100 ºС. The holding time at the annealing temperature is approx. 30 min, followed by rapid cooling in water. In individual cases, stress relief procedures can be carried out at 550 ºC - 600 ºC.

Hot forming

Hot forming should be carried out in the temperature range of 1200 - 950 °C. However, it should be taken into account that the strength of duplex material is low at high temperatures.

Cold forming

Due to the high strength of the duplex material, cold forming of duplex steel generally requires higher working forces than austenitic steel. The elasticity is relatively high due to the high yield strength. After cold deformation of more than 10%, hard solution annealing is recommended.

Processing

EN 1.4460 is a duplex stainless steel with improved machinability, which has much better machining properties than EN 1.4462. It is a high-grade steel that is easy to machine. It is used for parts that require wider machining.

Welding

It has good weldability and can be welded in the same way as austenitic material. Welding should be done without preheating and with small welds, i.e. with minimal heat input.
