Stainless Steel Grade AISI 347H | EN 1.4961 | DIN X8CrNiNb16-13

AISI 347H | EN 1.4961 | DIN X8CrNiNb16-13 is an austenitic CrNi stainless steel with the addition of (Nb) niobium (columbium). The steel provides excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 427 °C to 816 °C.

Stainless steel AISI 347 H is suitable for elevated temperature service and can be used in high temperature applications such as welded pipelines and pressure vessels etc. The material is an austenitic stainless steel designed for primary forming into forged products. It is usually supplied in annealed condition.

Machinability

Stainless steel grade AISI 347H is slightly stronger than grade AISI 304. However, the hardening of this steel can be minimized by using constant positive feed and low speeds.

Сварка

Stainless steel grade AISI 347H can be welded using most resistance and fusion welding methods. Oxy-acetylene welding is not the best method for this steel.

Hot processing

Forging, upsetting and other hot processes can be carried out at temperatures of 1149 °C - 1232 °C. To obtain maximum hardness, AISI 347H steel must be water-quenched and annealed.

Cold processing

AISI 347H stainless steel can be easily stamped, cut, rotated and drawn as it is quite strong and ductile.

Annealing

AISI 347H stainless steel can be annealed at temperatures from 1010 °C to 1193 °C.

Hardening

Stainless steel grade AISI 347H is not heat-treatable. The hardness and strength of the steel can be increased by cold working.
