Stainless Steel Grade AISI 430Nb | EN 1.4511 | DIN X3CrNb17

AISI 430Nb | EN 1.4511 | DIN X3CrNb17 is a type of ferritic stainless steel of the AISI 430 type with the addition of niobium. Niobium provides better resistance to intercrystalline corrosion, improves weldability by preventing intercrystalline corrosion and brittleness, provides the best surface finish, and ductility is also improved.

Processing

  • Hot deformation: due to the ferritic structure, the steel is easily forged. This steel grade is subjected to hot deformation and forging in the temperature range of 800 °C - 1150 °C.
  • Cold deformation: can be cold-deformed without any difficulties by all common methods: drawing (wire production), profiling (stamping), upsetting. This steel grade is characterized by a moderate degree of cold hardening, which reduces the load on the processing tool. After cold deformation, it is recommended to anneal at temperatures of 750 °C - 850 °C, followed by air cooling. Heat treatment will restore the steel's viscosity.
  • Cutting: with the same cutting parameters, tool life increases and chip flow improves.
