Stainless Steel Grade EN 1.4162 | S32101 (2101) | X2CrMnNiN21-5-1

EN 1.4162 | X2CrMnNiN21-5-1 - duplex stainless steel, which demonstrates better corrosion resistance. It is characterized by high resistance to cracking, better fatigue resistance. Significantly smaller cross-sectional area is required in the production of products.

It has higher two-phase stability due to Mn. The working temperature is up to 600 ℃. It is well welded and processed.

Duplex stainless steel S32101 (2101) is extremely resistant to corrosion. It has high resistance to intercrystalline corrosion. Even in chloride and sulphide environments it demonstrates very high resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

Heat resistance

The high chromium content of duplex stainless steels, which provides good corrosion protection, makes the steel brittle at temperatures above 300 °C. At low temperatures, duplex stainless steels have greater ductility than ferritic and martensitic grades. Duplex steel EN 1.4162 can be used at temperatures not lower than - 50 °C.

Heat treatment

Duplex stainless steel of this grade cannot be strengthened by heat treatment. However, it can be hardened. Use annealing during processing and harden by rapid cooling in solution after heating to about 1100 °C.

Weldability

The steel has good weldability. All standard welding processes can be used. It is not as easy to weld as austenitic grades, but the low thermal expansion of EN 1.4162 reduces deformation and residual stress after welding.
